First day as a tripawd

Recovery in Progress

Getting out of the hospital Car Load My track to the yard

Today I started my journey as a tripawd. I was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on 12/31/2014 and I managed to live a fairly unaltered life until about a week or so ago when the pain began to become to great. After making sure that we were good candidate for amputation, by making sure there were no obvious signs on cancer elsewhere in my body, my mom decided to have my leg amputated to control the spread of the disease and to ease my pain. The nurses said I was a champ and was recovering well enough to go home today, the day after my surgery. I hopped out to my mom and am now resting comfortably on my bed.  I’m sure the next few days will be difficult but I’m already up and hopping out to the yard to use the facilities and my new life as a tripod is off to a good start.

  1. Awwww sweet Rawley. I know you don’t feel like having a pawty today…and not for a few more days! But once that recovery takes place and the pain from that leg is gone, you WILL feel better!

I also had my Happy Hannah on pain meds at first in December 2012. Then had to make the decision to amputate in February 2013 as her pain increased. She let me know she wanted more quality time so I lroceeded. For the first two weeks I thought I’d made a horrible mistake as she was having a slow and difficult recocery. I joined here during that time and stayed glued to this site as my lifeline!

Happy Hannah recovered…her pain was gone…and we had THE most glorious one year and two months of loving, spoiling and fun than anyone could ever imagine!

Stay in the moment, stay in the present and let nothing interfere with your time together with Rawley! Just get on with life…Rawley sure is!!

Look forward to more updates and pictures….we love pictures around here!
